Faculty of Agriculture- Aswan University- seeks to develop Agricultural and food sectors through Agricultural research center.
The center belongs to special units which present applied and scientific services to solve local society, the most prominent of these units are:
1- Farm of Palms Tree in Nasr AL-Nuba:
Its area 6 acre which planted by palm trees and it is the best type of dates
2-Farm of animal and poultry production in Oneba region in Nasr AL-Nuba:
Its area 7 poultry shed to produce chicken in addition to 4 animal production sheds are equipped with those designated for fattening, dairy cows, sheep and goats
3-Guidance farm at university:
Guidance farm placed on desert region at Aswan University and it designed in Irrigation net shape with modern systems (sprinkler-drip) on 7 acre and parts of it special on vegetables and fruits
The Goal of farm:
Training faculty students to make experiments and researches to academic staff because it has irrigation net shape with modern system (sprinkler-drip)
4- Horticulture farms in Nasr AL-Nuba:
In Nasr El-Nuba Center, its assets were transferred to the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. It is a farm of about 7 acres divided into two parts, parts of which are planted with mango trees and date palms, and some areas are planted with vegetable crops and field crops. The farm is currently being developed and modernized to grow field models of most types of crops to be used in the educational process as well as to obtain a distinctive production from it.
1- Greenhouse Unit:
It consists of 4 large greenhouses, each with an area of one acre, located within the university campus, planted with different types of vegetables and ornamental plants, and their products are sold at reduced prices to university employees, in addition to four new greenhouses in the college farm facing the university on the airport road.
2- Consulting and Training Unit:
It is concerned with organizing training courses for various sectors and calling for them through students, graduates and others from the surrounding community.
3- Improved Seeds Unit:
It aims to produce various types of field and garden crops to serve the community.
4- Food and Dairy Industries Unit
It is followed by the Bakery Unit.
5- Animal Production Unit:
It is an educational, guidance and productive farm to achieve the maximum possible production capacity by exploiting the available capabilities in the animal production farm in the Al-Bayara area in Kom Ombo to provide the university family’s needs for animal products and supply breeders and farmers with improved breeding animals.
The unit also seeks to:
Distribute quantities of the finest meat in the slaughtering project.
Sell a number of sacrificial animals to breeders and university employees.
