The Department of Plant Pathology aims to be a centre of excellence and a leader in research, teaching, and extension work in the field of plant pathology and its applications at local and regional levels.
Preparing and graduating highly qualified agricultural engineers and researchers capable of working in the field of diagnosing and controlling plant diseases and solving problems related to them. The department also supervises postgraduate students and prepares them to obtain both the master’s and doctoral degrees in the field of plant pathology. In addition, the department conducts applied research to solve disease-related problems.
1. To prepare and train students to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Sciences (specialising in Plant Pathology), equipping them with the knowledge, skills and training required to meet the demands of the labour market.
2 – To prepare postgraduate students for Master’s and PhD degrees in the field of plant pathology in line with developments and advances in scientific research.
3 – To keep pace with developments in undergraduate and postgraduate education programmes to produce graduates capable of keeping up with modern technology in plant pathology applications.
4 – Conducting scientific and applied research focused on solving disease problems in the surrounding environment and working to find alternatives to chemical control to reduce environmental pollution and ensure the production of safe food.
5 – Establishing channels of cooperation between the Department and research centres, as well as other universities, in the field of plant pathology.
