horticulture department is looking forward to leadership and excellence  regionally and locally in the field of education and scientific research ,and society development in horticulture sciences in a manner that serves agricultural sustainable development.

mission

Within the framework of  faculty of agriculture and natural resources ,horticulture department seeks to prepare scientifically    and technically qualified graduates in order to  meet the needs of labor market  throughout providing advanced academic  programs that promote the production of vegetables ,fruits,medicinal,ornamental, and  aromatic plants and use them to improve social,environmental,and economical sustainability ,and conducting innovative and multidisciplinary   scientific  researches  and transfer its practical and applied  results  to contribute to solve the environmental and economic problems in order to achieve sustainable development goals.

1. Developing horticultural science courses at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels to keep pace with modern scientific trends.

2. Participation in the preparation of distinguished scientific programmes in light of national academic standards.

3. Develop a mechanism for continuous monitoring and retraining of graduates to enhance their competitiveness in the local and regional labour market.

4. Providing and updating a database for educational and research aspects of the department and data on faculty members and support staff.

5. Establishing a system for continuous monitoring and evaluation within the department with the aim of ensuring continuous improvement in performance in the areas of education, scientific research, community service and environmental development.

6. Cooperating with other departments, faculties, and research centres in conducting joint research that contributes to serving the community.

7. Contribute to raising the ranking of the college and university by publishing innovative scientific research in international scientific fields.

8. Providing training courses and technical advice on horticultural crop cultivation.
